How to Get Rid of the Bad Odor in your Leather Couch

Leather is known to have a very distinctive smell, especially if it’s brand new. However, over time, the leather tends to absorb various types odors and may eventually develop an unpleasant smell. If you’re a smoker, your leather couch may also smell like a musty cigarette. On the other hand, if you have pets in your home, you might as well expect that your couch may smell like your dog.

Some people don’t mind this at all. In fact, they’re probably immune to the smell, especially if they experience it on a daily basis.   • Baking Soda – A baking soda is a popular ingredient that is known for its various uses. You can apply it to the entire surface of your leather furniture. Don’t forget to include the hard to reach areas such as the crevices. Let the baking soda sit for at least an hour before you vacuum it. This will help get rid of the stale and musty odor in your furniture. Plus, it’s cheap so you won’t even have to think twice.
  • Vinegar – Another kitchen ingredient that can effectively remove the bad smell is vinegar. Just mix equal parts of vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray over the entire surface of your leather couch. Don’t forget to include the other side of the cushion. Then let it dry for 10 minutes before wiping off the vinegar.
